Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Lab Assistant to contribute to our operations in a dynamic laboratory environment. This role is integral to the efficient processing of clinical specimens and plays a crucial part in the overall workflow of our laboratory services.

Work Schedule: This is a per diem position, with hours as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and categorize clinical laboratory specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis and testing.
  • Perform data entry and scanning of specimen and patient details.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and conduct minor maintenance as required.
  • Address and resolve any specimen-related issues.
  • Restock supplies at testing stations as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures to uphold safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program.
  • Prior experience in a medical or laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens.
  • Ability to accurately identify and process specimens.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Must successfully pass a standardized color blindness assessment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
