Position Title: Food Sensory Research Technician (Part-time)
Location: Onsite
Contract Duration: 12+ Months
Job Type: Full Time/ W2
Compensation: $26.00/hr on W2
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm CST (20 hours per week)
Role Summary:
- We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Sensory Research Technician to assist our product development team. This part-time role will involve supporting various sensory initiatives, including panel setup, sample management, and ensuring a well-maintained sensory environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in laboratory and kitchen settings, be skilled in Microsoft Office, and possess the physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the product development team with sensory evaluations, including difference panels, attribute training, and team tastings.
- Prepare sensory panels by creating references, handling sample preparation, and organizing the panel room.
- Administer references and samples during panel training and prepare additional references as required.
- Set up and oversee sensory booths, including labeling sample containers and conducting sensory assessments using the Eye Question program.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the panel room, sample preparation area, and sensory booths.
- Restock supplies in the panel room and sensory lab; conduct weekly inventory checks and place orders as necessary.
- Assist with routine food safety procedures and ensure adherence to company safety policies.
- Document and safeguard information related to patentable technological advancements in accordance with company policy.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Collaborate efficiently both independently and as part of a team; exhibit strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Assist product developers with relevant analytical or shelf-life testing as needed.
- Maintain and update tablets and laptops on a weekly basis.
- Collect samples and supplies for sensory evaluations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Proactive approach to technical challenges
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment and follow good manufacturing practices
- Physical capability to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Reliable transportation to the work site
Preferred:
- Prior laboratory experience
- Experience in a kitchen environment
Additional Information:
- PPE will be provided and must be worn during work hours.
- This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) with a flexible schedule within the Monday to Friday timeframe.
- Preferred working hours are 4 hours daily (Monday to Friday) or 8 hours on two days of the week plus 4 hours on one additional day.
