Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Lab Assistant to support our operations. This role is integral to the efficient functioning of our clinical laboratory, where you will engage in a variety of tasks that are crucial to laboratory science.

Work Schedule: This is a per diem position, with hours as needed.

Benefits: Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity. Employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, 401(K), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Paid Time Off (PTO), and other applicable bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and categorize clinical laboratory specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for subsequent testing and analysis.
  • Perform scanning and data entry for specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and conduct minor maintenance as needed.
  • Address any issues related to specimens promptly.
  • Restock test bench supplies as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures to uphold safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current enrollment in a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a medical laboratory or production setting is advantageous.
  • Comfort with handling biological specimens is essential.
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment while meeting established turnaround times.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Must successfully pass a standardized color blindness assessment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
