Surgical Assistant, Sunnybrook

As a Surgical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in supporting our surgical team in the operating room. Under the direct supervision of a surgeon, you will assist with surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to surgical protocols.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Participate in pre-operative briefings and time-outs, ensuring clear communication among team members.
- Monitor and maintain patient safety, reporting any concerns or issues to the surgical team.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Minimum two years of operating room experience as a Surgical Assistant or Surgical Tech.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Certified Surgical Assistant Certificate from National Surgical Assistant Association or Surgical First Assistant Certificate from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Three to five years of experience in a hospital O.R. or ambulatory surgery setting as a Surgical Assistant.
- Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field of study.
