The Corporate Finance division at OpenAI works closely with executives throughout the organization to deliver resource allocation, strategic planning, and analytical support for decision-making. Our team creates tools that provide essential financial insights, ensuring the organization is equipped for success in fulfilling its mission.

About the Role

In the capacity of Lead Manager of Corporate Financial Strategy, you will collaborate with senior management to align our strategic objectives with our financial framework. You will engage with cross-functional partners across various departments, including public policy and legal, to develop financial projections, initiate and oversee financial programs, and set performance benchmarks for the company. Additionally, you will offer financial insights and strategic guidance to leadership through budget analysis, return on investment assessments, and drive special projects as requested.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure financial integrity in projects and initiatives.
  • Develop scalable tools for budget oversight and reporting for stakeholders.
  • Forge partnerships with department leaders to identify and translate their resource requirements into financial forecasts.
  • Create foundational financial models as we establish frameworks for forecasting various expense types.
  • Work alongside the Accounting team during month-end close to guarantee accurate financial reporting and share insights with stakeholders to enhance accountability.
  • Promote a culture of predictability by proactively identifying business trends, integrating them into our forecasts, minimizing variances in reported outcomes, and emphasizing the importance of precise spend management with business partners.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Over 10 years of experience in strategic finance, ideally within high-growth startups or SaaS environments. Previous roles in investment banking or management consulting are advantageous.
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and analysis, with proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities to communicate financial data effectively to colleagues and stakeholders outside of finance.
  • Experience with contemporary software and systems, particularly NetSuite, Zip, and Anaplan.
  • A comprehensive understanding of artificial intelligence development and the critical factors contributing to its success.
