Position Overview:

The role at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute focuses on supporting healthcare providers during medical procedures within the clinic. Key responsibilities encompass blood collection, laboratory analysis, quality assurance, equipment troubleshooting, and upkeep.

Qualifications and Prerequisites:

Educational Background:

  • Completion of High School or equivalent (GED).

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Possession of a valid Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited organization, such as: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) from the National Health Career Association (NHA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
  • A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for potential travel to various clinic sites.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical or physician's office setting, with proficiency in venipuncture preferred.

  • Analytical & Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational capabilities. Detail-oriented with the capacity to exercise independent judgment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Well-developed interpersonal abilities, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, delegation skills, and awareness of diversity.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent command of the English language. Effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), active listening, and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong focus on customer satisfaction, collaboration, partnerships, and fostering positive relationships with employees, physicians, and the community.
  • Self-Management: Ability to manage competing priorities, stress, and professional growth. Demonstrated capability to balance various demands from stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, less than 25%.
  • Standard Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.

Screening Process:

Successful candidates must pass a background check. Compliance with vaccination requirements, including the influenza vaccine, is mandatory. Drug and nicotine testing will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
