The Jewish Federation of Detroit seeks a seasoned HR leader to drive organizational success and foster a thriving workforce.

This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise in HR practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Fostering a positive, collaborative, and dynamic work environment
  • Developing a culture of integrity, teamwork, resourcefulness, and accountability
  • Recruiting and retaining top talent, and directing hiring, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Recommending and executing staffing decisions, including layoffs, transfers, and promotions
  • Designing and managing competitive compensation and benefits programs
  • Administering an ERISA 403(b) Plan covering 7 agencies with over $30M in assets
  • Working closely with management to drive staff excellence, improve employee morale, and build highly effective teams
  • Overseeing performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development plans
  • Identifying professional development needs, designing training programs, and facilitating learning opportunities
  • Providing ongoing and proactive coaching for employees and managers
  • Addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems to ensure a fair and respectful work environment
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and labor laws

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with 5 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team to achieve goals
  • Proven ability to think strategically, align HR practices with business objectives, and drive organizational transformation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, and leadership
