Position Overview:

The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in the financial operations of Family Allergy & Asthma. This position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess a strong understanding of billing processes within the healthcare sector. The Billing Specialist will report directly to the Financial Services Manager and is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism while interacting with various stakeholders.

Work Schedule:
This is a Full-Time position with standard office hours typically from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including potential overtime as required.

Employment Classification:
Non-exempt, Hourly Status

Key Responsibilities:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for the following:
1. Conducting accounts receivable follow-ups.
2. Analyzing claims to determine reasons for insurance denials.
3. Preparing and submitting appeals for denied claims.
4. Reviewing and interpreting medical records to ensure accurate billing.
5. Resubmitting claims both in paper and electronic formats.
6. Assessing payer rejections and making necessary adjustments.
7. Correcting level two claim submission rejections.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a medical billing office is preferred.
- Familiarity with Availity clearinghouse is advantageous.
- Basic computer proficiency is essential.
- Understanding of healthcare financial concepts such as deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting medical documentation.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this position include:
- Frequent use of hands for handling and manipulating objects.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds.
