Job Description

As a Fee For Service Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide counseling services to members in our Drug & Alcohol program. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all members receive the support and care they need to overcome addiction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual and group therapies to members in the Drug & Alcohol program.
  2. Complete intake, treatment plans, evaluations, and discharges on time as prescribed in our policies.
  3. Use ASAM evaluation at the beginning and at every treatment plan session.
  4. Complete documentation on time as prescribed in our policies and procedure manual.
  5. Ensure all members provide UDS every week without fail.
  6. Apply for BHSI for clients who do not have insurance.
  7. Coordinate with Septa logistics care for bus passes for members to come to the facility.
  8. Coordinate with Psychiatrist for evaluations, suboxone prescription for members, and case consultations.
  9. Work closely with supervisor and complete required supervision hours and case consultations.
  10. Ensure all documentation and data are complete and in compliance with APM, city, state, and federal regulations.
  11. Makes referrals to appropriate levels of care based on ASAM criteria.
  12. Maintains strong interagency community, multidisciplinary, and government agencies relationships.
  13. Maintains ongoing communication with other community treatment facilities, primary care physicians, hospitals, schools, multidisciplinary units, and Probation/Parole officers, the Forensic Intensive Recovery (FIR) unit, etc. as necessary.
  14. Maintains a caseload that supervisor deemed appropriate in your full-time position.
  15. Participate in meetings with the agency interdisciplinary team as clinically necessary.
  16. Participate and maintain required CE credits and other mandatory trainings.
  17. Ensure all charts are up to date.
  18. Actively engage in program expansion and development.
  19. Works closely with the Clinical Director and set quarterly targets and achieve them.
  20. Must be able to provide training and supervision if more counselors are hired for DA program.
  21. Provides updated FBI, PA criminal background, child abuse, CPSL, and CPR clearances before the start date.
  22. Performs other program-related duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified candidate who has:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the human services or related field with a minimum of 1-year work experience with clients in a rehabilitation, social services, mental health, or related services.
  • CAC, CDAC licensed or qualified.
  • Completed ASAM training.
  • Trained in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Proficiency in the DAP documentation.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word.
  • Experience in facilitating group therapy.
  • Working with medication-managed populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
