Position Overview

As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the financial aspects of underwriting insurance operations.

Your role requires a blend of business insight and analytical skills to conduct detailed analyses and convey financial outcomes, accounting challenges, and business implications to management and relevant reporting entities.

You will lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 accounting professionals. Your proactive approach will be essential in driving continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate closely with Underwriting and Finance Operations to gain a thorough understanding of all product lines.
- Supervise all accounting activities related to underwriting insurance and manage a team of 4-5 staff members.
- Oversee the reconciliation of underwriting accounts.
- Partner with Finance Operations (systems), Ceded Reinsurance, Actuarial, Underwriting, and Treasury departments.
- Manage the company's transaction processing systems and the associated closing processes.
- Calculate accurate and timely profit-share distributions for agent partners.
- Generate complex management reports and analyses that elucidate financial results, investigate discrepancies, and identify trends.
- Provide timely and accurate financial data necessary for the preparation of Statutory and US GAAP financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements and regulatory standards.
- Direct the implementation of strategic financial initiatives.
- Mentor and develop finance team members.
- Address internal and external auditor inquiries.
- Identify and implement efficiencies and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Drive process improvements, including leveraging technology to automate or streamline existing workflows and expedite the monthly closing process.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- In-depth knowledge of accounting practices within the P&C Insurance sector.
- Extensive experience in developing, leading, and retaining a high-performing Accounting/Finance team.

Education and Experience

- Experience engaging with a geographically diverse organization at various levels of expertise.
