Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team at WVU Medicine. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing basic life support care to patients in emergency situations, including medical transports and interfacility transports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic life support care to patients, including CPR, bleeding control, and splinting
  • Operate emergency vehicles and equipment, including ambulances and medical equipment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Document patient care and treatment in electronic medical records
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes
Requirements
  • Current WV EMS Certification
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course completion within six months of hire
  • National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician Certification (if hired after 7/1/2020)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate level degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary educational institution
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, AHA Preferred
  • National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician certification
  • GEMS (Geriatric Education) Certification
Work Environment

The work environment for this position may include exposure to hazardous materials, infectious diseases, and violent patients. The employee is expected to adhere to all applicable policies and procedures concerning safety and the prevention of contamination and infection due to bloodborne pathogens.
