Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Leadership: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to our executive team and board of directors on all aspects of our business, including corporate governance, contracts, intellectual property, labor and employment, real estate, and litigation.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that our business operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including health and safety regulations, consumer protection, and advertising standards.
  • Franchise Management: Oversee and manage all franchise agreements, ensuring legal compliance and protecting the company's interests while fostering positive relationships with franchisees.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement company-wide policies and procedures to promote legal compliance and minimize risk.
  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent the company in litigation and oversee outside counsel as needed in various legal matters.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters, including risk management and compliance best practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with a variety of departments, including finance, marketing, operations, and human resources, to ensure that all business activities align with legal requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant experience in corporate law, franchise law, and retail operations.
  • Skills: Proven experience as a General Counsel or equivalent role, ideally in a company with a comparable size and scope. Strong understanding of the optical retail industry and relevant regulations. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
