The Marketing Product Owner for Site and Mobile Applications oversees the creation and implementation of marketing communications presented to customers through the Discover website and mobile application. This role involves gathering, analyzing, and prioritizing campaign requirements while consistently seeking ways to enhance the campaign workflow. Building strong relationships and collaborating with marketing operations, campaign leaders, and product teams is essential to ensure a seamless and valuable campaign process for our customers.
Product Professionals play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions and enhancing platforms that elevate customer experiences, fulfill customer needs, and generate business value. They focus on defining the 'what' of the team's efforts to maximize customer value. As a servant leader, the Product Professional guides and mentors team members without managing them directly, possessing comprehensive job knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the product backlog, prioritizing items to meet Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) while ensuring it remains current. Keep essential product documentation up to date (e.g., customer journey maps, technical specifications, process maps).
- Ensure product features and processes comply with Discover's regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards. Maintain high-quality standards for products, including timely security updates. Translate requirements into use cases, agile stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure compliance, and validate user story acceptance criteria. Monitor and assess product progress through each iteration.
- Facilitate Agile practices (sprints, planning, execution, and retrospectives) and conduct meetings with the product team to keep the product backlog updated.
- Define both functional and non-functional product requirements, ensuring they are comprehensive, integral, and consistent. Create and validate user story acceptance criteria and implement appropriate testing frameworks for product features (e.g., market testing, functional performance). Collaborate with Data stewards to identify and implement necessary data quality controls. Monitor and assess product progress through each iteration.
- Work closely with business technology to develop technical features essential for ongoing system optimization and infrastructure maintenance.
- Manage and communicate project scope, deliverables, and timelines through effective storyboarding and visual structuring of complex information.
- Contribute to product development and vision by aligning customer solutions with business objectives. Responsible for delivering the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support market entry strategies.
- Foster a culture of accountability and ownership by empowering the product team to make decisions close to the work.
- Engage with vendors and cross-functional partners in the evaluation, development, management, monitoring, and enhancement of assigned products and programs.
- Proactively manage and escalate risks and customer-impacting issues in daily operations to management.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Product Management or Engineering within the Financial Services or Technology sectors, or a related field.
- Alternatively, 6+ years of experience in Product Management or Engineering within the Financial Services or Technology sectors, or a related field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Product Owner Agile Certification.
- Familiarity with JIRA, Adobe Target, and Adobe Workfront.
Compensation:
The base salary for this position typically ranges from $100,000 to $139,000. Additional incentives may be included as part of a competitive total compensation package. Factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may influence the salary for this role.
