Position Overview
The role involves the installation and removal of molds and fixtures for molding machinery, ensuring the upkeep of molds and associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to established protocols for the extraction of molds from machinery, which includes: Disconnecting water and hydraulic lines, detaching nozzles and heater blocks, unclamping and unfastening molds, and utilizing hoisting techniques for mold removal.
- Follow set procedures for the installation of molds into machinery, including: Connecting water and hydraulic lines, fitting nozzles and heater blocks, and securing molds in place.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance on molding nozzles.
- Wire heater bands as required.
- Install and/or remove inserts for molds according to schedule.
- Prepare molds for both removal from and installation into machinery.
- Transport molds within the facility using cranes and forklifts.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of mold components and tools.
- Certification in forklift operation.
- Certification in crane operation.
- Authorized lockout/tagout certification.
- Training in the use of hand and power tools, including torches and various hand tools.
- Prior experience in changing molds in plastic machinery is advantageous.
- Experience with torches is preferred.
- Familiarity with bench grinders is a plus.
- Physical requirements include walking, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and manual dexterity for handling, grasping, pushing, and lifting items.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Work is primarily indoors, often in proximity to hot machinery.
- Job responsibilities may involve regular exposure to oil and grease.
