Objective:

To function as a licensed peace officer in Texas, complete the lateral Field Training Program, and perform the responsibilities of a police officer at the University of Texas at Austin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol the campus to deter crime and ensure safety
  • Make informed decisions within legal frameworks
  • Apprehend suspects when necessary
  • Utilize various tools and equipment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, TCOLE Peace Officer Certification, U.S. citizenship, clean criminal history, effective communication abilities, and more. Relevant experience may be taken into account.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years of law enforcement experience, higher education, experience in academic environments, and proficiency with communication devices.

Driving Requirements:

A valid driver's license is required. Specific driving record conditions apply.

Compensation:

Starting salary at $68,626, with additional credit for prior law enforcement experience.

Work Environment:

Includes various shifts, outdoor work, and physically demanding conditions.

Work Schedule:

May necessitate overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts.
