Old Dominion Freight Line is currently looking for a Maintenance Shop Supervisor to join our family-oriented culture. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the shop facility while fostering a collaborative team environment. The shop is responsible for maintaining the Old Dominion truck fleet through inspection, repair, and replacement of parts in heavy equipment, including forklifts. A solid understanding of basic welding and DOT compliance is essential. This position requires strong decision-making abilities and excellent time management skills. Adherence to company policies and supervisors' directives, along with necessary administrative tasks, is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assess the shop facility to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Research and implement new technologies related to the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles
  • Schedule and delegate tasks effectively
  • Manage staffing to ensure coverage during peak workload periods
  • Review and audit work orders
  • Monitor work habits to enhance productivity
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a paperless environment, including barcoding systems
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization
  • Train employees to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate closely with the parts manager and shop manager for timely equipment repairs
  • Provide guidance and support to employees within your area of responsibility
  • Work in conjunction with the warranty administrator
  • Assist in the formation and management of the shop budget
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of shop personnel
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
