Job Summary

The American Association of Motor Vehicles is seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager to lead the development, implementation, and operations of information systems for states, jurisdictions, and federal agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination
    • Manage projects from initiation to closure, developing plans, schedules, estimates, and proposals.
    • Be accountable for project deliverables, monitor progress, quality assurance, and customer service.
    • Report status to management and stakeholders, identifying and resolving risks that impact project completion.
    • Coordinate planning, development, testing, documentation, and installation of systems to ensure timely deliverables and project success.
  • Budget Monitoring
    • Develop project detailed budgets and monitor project spending.
    • Perform necessary budget corrections in coordination with the Project Director.
  • PMO Procedure and Life Cycle Methodology
    • Develop and maintain project management procedures.
    • Participate in project debriefings to analyze lessons learned and provide recommendations for improvement.
    • Develop and maintain System Development Life Cycle.
    • Participate in staff training activities and mentoring as they relate to SDLC methodology.
    • Conduct and manage scrum, planning, and retrospective agile ceremonies.
    • Develop tools and best practices for project management and execution.
Requirements
  • Formal Education
    • Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in computer science or business administration.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Minimum of ten years of experience in the Information Technology field with minimum five years of project management experience in managing Information Technology Departments.
    • PM experience should include planning, scheduling, cost estimations, creating work breakdown structures, and effective use of PM tools to manage projects.
    • Ability to create and manipulate project deliverables, technical documents, and presentations using the MS Office Suite, MS Project, and MS Visio.
    • Ability to elicit cooperation from management and other departments.
    • Experience in the development and/or maintenance of software applications in heterogeneous environments.
    • Supervisory and contract management experience.
    • Experience in structured analysis and full life cycle management.
    • Strong leadership and verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience working in an Agile/scrum framework, with any related certifications preferred.
    • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • US Citizenship Required.
