Job Summary:

The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting field operations, primarily assisting the Project Manager with project administration across multiple small projects or one medium to large-scale project. Key responsibilities include managing the transition process of jobs and overseeing aspects such as cost management, scheduling, technical evaluations, quality assurance, safety protocols, work planning, procurement, contract oversight, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and secure approvals for monthly billing and earned value reports.
  • Develop and oversee project schedules for small to mid-sized projects.
  • Analyze project targets, job cost summaries, and related reports.
  • Notify the Superintendent and Project Manager regarding resource management impacts.
  • Establish initial budgets and manage updates, reviewing weekly job cost summaries.
  • Generate estimates for change orders and collaborate with pre-construction teams on original bids.
  • Work with project teams to facilitate job transitions and communicate project requirements.
  • Prepare material quantity take-offs and relevant procurement documentation.
  • Solicit and evaluate proposals, recommending procurement decisions to the Project Manager.
  • Process field purchase orders and obtain approvals for major purchases.
  • Compile monthly financial reports and engage in project financial reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to validate and code project invoices.
  • Generate and secure approvals for technical documentation, including constructability reports and inspection records.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to maintain accurate as-built records.
  • Oversee work package closures, punch lists, and project turnover processes.
  • Collect documentation for potential contract changes, disputes, and claims.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify operational enhancements.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual obligations and monitor workforce utilization.
  • Collaborate with Safety and Risk Management on injury reporting and case management.
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring processes as needed.
  • Facilitate new-hire orientations and track training requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
