Qualifications:

  1. Must fulfill educational criteria for 'highly qualified paraprofessional,' as stipulated by federal regulations and educational standards.
  2. Must demonstrate fundamental competencies in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  3. Possession of valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.

Summary

This role is pivotal in fostering a secure and encouraging environment conducive to learning for all students. The individual will implement instructional strategies as directed by professional staff, under the supervision of the principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Support the principal and educational professionals in maintaining a safe and organized, yet non-restrictive, school environment.
  2. Assist in the delivery of effective instructional and tutorial services.
  3. Facilitate student engagement in mastering instructional materials related to ESOL, Title, special education, library services, reading, and related subjects.
  4. Respond appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with established protocols and policies.
  5. Perform additional tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this role, the incumbent is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. Frequent walking, climbing stairs, and bending are necessary. The ability to lift and carry weights of up to 25 pounds over short distances is required. The use of hands and fingers for handling documents, telephones, etc., is essential. The incumbent must also be able to stand, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Vision capabilities, including close and distance vision, are required. Some positions may necessitate attending to the physical and hygiene needs of children, which may involve additional physical demands.
