I. POSITION OVERVIEW

The EHS Manager, under the supervision of the Regional EHS Coordinator, is dedicated to fostering a secure and compliant workplace for all personnel within First Brands Group, LLC. This role involves managing adherence to both internal and external audits, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

First Brands Group, LLC specializes in the manufacturing of OEM and aftermarket automotive components and accessories, with production facilities strategically located across multiple states. The company is headquartered in Cleveland, OH, and serves a diverse clientele both nationally and internationally.

This position directly reports to the Regional Safety Coordinator and is responsible for aligning with corporate policies and federal/state safety regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT standards. The primary objective is to develop and uphold policies and programs that guarantee a safe and healthy work environment, free from recognized hazards, while ensuring compliance with all relevant federal and state EH&S regulations.

Through a systematic approach involving internal audits, employee feedback, and proactive recommendations, the incumbent will identify environmental, safety, and health risks, directing appropriate corrective measures as necessary. Responsibilities include reviewing work methods for enhanced ergonomics, assessing safety data sheets, monitoring hazardous material handling, and evaluating ventilation, air quality, and noise levels throughout the manufacturing and distribution sites.

The EHS Manager will also support the facility in effectively managing recordable incidents by conducting thorough investigations and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented to prevent future occurrences. This role includes providing guidance and support to safety committees and teams at each location.

Additionally, the position may involve coordinating Loss Control and/or Property Insurance assessments, working collaboratively with site leadership and safety teams to ensure that recommendations are reviewed and addressed appropriately. The EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring that the plant's fire protection and emergency systems are inspected and maintained in accordance with insurance, governmental, and corporate standards.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist in formulating a comprehensive strategy to cultivate a robust safety culture throughout the organization.

- Aid in the design, implementation, and communication of the company's health and safety policies, programs, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

- Encourage feedback on safety concerns and observations, promoting active participation and immediate reporting of incidents/injuries to foster a shared sense of responsibility.

- Analyze incident data and trends, conducting detailed investigations into accidents and near-miss events to identify potential safety, health, and environmental risks, and develop mitigation strategies.

- Liaise with federal, state, local, national, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements, representing the site during inspections and audits.

- Coordinate relevant environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.

- Ensure accurate reporting of all incidents, documentation of recordable accidents, and provide guidance during investigations to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.

- Investigate complaints and suggestions related to OSHA, EPA, DOT, ergonomics, safety, health, and hygiene, resolving any associated issues.

- Oversee compliance with ISO 14000 standards, if applicable.

- Facilitate Loss Control & Protection Mutual visits, ensuring that recommendations are reviewed and implemented as necessary.

- Provide direction and support during routine Safety Team meetings.

- Maintain accurate records for applicable EH&S and DOT programs, including material safety data sheets, drug screenings, recordable incidents, and training documentation.

- Act as a subject matter expert on EHS, coaching and guiding teams to create, maintain, and measure performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for site EHS teams.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred or equivalent experience in a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an environmental, health, and safety professional.

Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities to engage with various levels of the organization, along with the capacity to listen and discuss information effectively.

Special Skills: Familiarity with ISO & TS standards and requirements, knowledge of OSHA, EPA & DOT regulations, proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook), internal/external auditing experience, and training in First Aid & CPR.

Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental leadership roles, with a demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage effective health and safety programs.

Dependability: Must maintain a satisfactory attendance record and conduct. Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as required, with the ability to travel to various sites as needed.
