As a key member of our museum's leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing formal and informal educational and interpretive programs at the museum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead educational programs that engage diverse audiences, including K-12 students, adults, and community stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with university faculty, students, K-12 teachers, and community partners to develop new initiatives and collaborations.
  • Design and implement educational materials, including educators' guides, family guides, and web-based resources.
  • Manage the educational budget and oversee revenue-generating programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with federal and state standards and 21st-century skills curriculum standards.
  • Develop and oversee the museum's student docent program.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Curator/Academic Liaison to coordinate educational programs for the UConn community.
  • Supervise student staff and volunteers working in educational programs.
  • Provide oversight of the education collection, including review, maintenance, and cataloging of objects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in art history or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in creating and leading sustainable education programs in an art museum environment.
  • Track record of educational success, including developing programs, implementing events, and building collaborations.
  • Experience with STEAM education and curriculum development.
  • Prior supervisory experience managing docents, volunteers, interns, and students.
  • Excellent managerial, planning, organizational, and administrative skills, including budgeting and grants.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in museum studies, art history, education, or liberal studies.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience as an Education Curator/Director in an art museum, managing a complex educational program.
