Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator Specialist to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in our office.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Coordinating patient scheduling and registration, including verifying insurance eligibility and financial status;
  2. Providing excellent customer service support, including answering phone calls and directing patients to the appropriate staff;
  3. Retrieving and filing medical records, entering and updating patient information, and ensuring confidentiality;
  4. Identifying payer sources and assigning correct pay types;
  5. Assisting patients with the check-in process and checking out patients using electronic medical records systems;
  6. Faxing, copying, and distributing medical record information for doctors and patients;
  7. Working as part of a team with all clinic staff, including management, nursing, and medical personnel.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent;
  2. A minimum of three years of directly job-related experience;
  3. Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively;
  5. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the optometric industry is preferred, but not required.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is between $50,000 and $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
