Medical Office Coordinator Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator Specialist to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in our office.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Coordinating patient scheduling and registration, including verifying insurance eligibility and financial status;
- Providing excellent customer service support, including answering phone calls and directing patients to the appropriate staff;
- Retrieving and filing medical records, entering and updating patient information, and ensuring confidentiality;
- Identifying payer sources and assigning correct pay types;
- Assisting patients with the check-in process and checking out patients using electronic medical records systems;
- Faxing, copying, and distributing medical record information for doctors and patients;
- Working as part of a team with all clinic staff, including management, nursing, and medical personnel.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- A minimum of three years of directly job-related experience;
- Excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively;
- Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
Experience in the optometric industry is preferred, but not required.
SalaryThe estimated salary for this role is between $50,000 and $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
