Overview

We are currently inviting applications for the position of Intervention Specialist 1 across various locations statewide. This recruitment is open for both current and future openings, allowing candidates to be considered for a period of up to 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and executing both individual and group interventions focused on reentry programming. This includes, but is not limited to, areas such as Domestic Violence, Employment, Anger Management, and Cognitive Behavioral Programming. The specialist will perform assessments utilizing evidence-based evaluation tools, develop and implement case and treatment plans, and deliver primary programming that is grounded in evidence-based practices. Additionally, the specialist will create and execute therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing the success of Persons In Our Care (PIOC) in fulfilling program requirements.

Compensation

This role falls within pay schedule and range 12-64, offering a starting salary of $27.02/hour - $33.33/hour . For current state employees, salary upon appointment may vary based on the applicable provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A probationary period of twelve months is mandatory.

Candidates who have not held permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the last 5 years may qualify for a sign-on bonus of $2,000 (with $1000 paid on the first paycheck and $1000 after achieving permanent status, typically after one year). (Employment with the UW System does not disqualify candidates.)

To qualify for the bonus, candidates must confirm their commitment to remain in the position for one year; early departure may necessitate reimbursement of the initial payment.

Job Requirements

Applicants must possess legal authorization to work in the United States (i.e., a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship from the DOC) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screenings. Any applicant offered a position requiring such a screening must successfully pass it as a condition of employment.

A criminal background check will be conducted on all applicants prior to selection. Upon hiring, all new employees of the DOC will be subject to fingerprinting.
