Position Overview:

The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer – Engine Control Systems (ECS) is integral in addressing quality challenges, improving program quality metrics, facilitating site evaluations, and engaging with both clients and internal leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

As a vital contributor to our team, you will:
  • Utilize customer and internal performance indicators to design, direct, and execute quality enhancements aimed at boosting customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee investigations into customer-related issues, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and organizational standards by identifying root causes and applying effective corrective measures.
  • Relay improvement strategies and updates to both internal teams and clients.
  • Work collaboratively with various Collins facilities and teams to implement enhancements through diverse continuous improvement methodologies as part of the Collins Zero Defect Plan.
  • Lead and implement quality initiatives, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) across the F135 Supply Base.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to achieve customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Identify and execute process and product enhancements in partnership with cross-functional teams within the engine controls programs.
  • Assist in customer audits at Collins sites to ensure adherence to client requirements.
  • Guarantee that engineering focal points are applying AS9145 standards during the design phases of new product development.
  • Be prepared for occasional domestic travel as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to access restrictions to program-related information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality, Engineering, or Operations.
  • Proficiency in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience with SAP and quality improvement tools such as Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Kaizen events, and PPAP.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Active security clearance is advantageous.
