Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Coder II to join our team at Accuity. As a key member of our coding department, you will be responsible for evaluating inpatient medical records and accurately assigning ICD-10 CM/PCS codes, Present on Admission (POA) indicators, and relevant DRGs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign ICD-10 CM/PCS codes and POA indicators in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines.
  • Apply definition of principal diagnosis for proper assignment of MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, and POA indicators.
  • Utilize encoder and/or computer-assisted coding software to ensure accurate and compliant coding.
  • Abstract pertinent data from documentation and maintain required standards of performance in coding accuracy and productivity.
  • Communicate with providers to ensure quality, completeness of documentation, and optimal reimbursement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of current inpatient facility coding experience.
  • Minimum 2 years Level 2 trauma center and/or 2 years academic teaching medical center experience.
  • Coding credential required from AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (CPC, CIC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in HIM or coding.
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 guidelines and coding regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in DRG methodologies and compliant reimbursement practices.
