As a Medical Coder (Same Day Surgery and Observation), you will review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign ICD-10 CM and CPT including E/M codes for timely and accurate billing for our clients and patients.

To thrive in this role, you must have an active CPC, CCS, CCSP, RHIT, or RHIA coding certificate and familiarity with observation and same day surgery coding.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate codes (ICD-10 CM, CPT, E/M, HCPCS, modifiers) for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures meeting daily quotas with 95% accuracy
  • Review and clarify physician-assigned diagnosis codes and query physicians for clarification when necessary
  • Adhere to Standards of Ethical Coding by AHIMA and AAPC
  • Enter and validate codes, charges, and other edits; verify and correct documentation
  • Communicate with other departments to provide coding guidance


Requirements:

  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Active CPC, CCS, CCSP, RHIT, or RHIA with work experience in observation and same day surgery facility coding
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines including ICD-10 CM, HCPCS, and CPT and E/M coding
