Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled CRNA Anesthesia Assistant to join our team in Sacramento, California.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise staff of certified registered nurse anesthetists and administer intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics prior to and during surgical or medical procedures.
  • Monitor patient reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia, taking remedial action when warranted.
  • Submit postoperative reports on patient condition and maintain records of anesthetics administered.
  • Augment department leadership with assistance in hiring, training, and supervision of certified registered nurse anesthetists.
  • Develop schedules, department standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring quality of care and service standards.
  • Assume a proxy role for day-to-day clinical operations and administrative tasks in the absence of the Chief CRNA.
  • Assist in monitoring budgets, resource allocation, and department financial performance, identifying strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
  • Review anesthetic evaluations of patients prior to surgeries and consult with anesthesiologists and/or surgeons as needed.
  • Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations according to KP policies and procedures, formulating anesthesia plans for proposed operations.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of pre-anesthesia evaluations, anesthetic plans, and patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining tests, procedures, and disease processes as indicated.
  • Evaluate patients to identify apparent difficulties with airway control, starting IV solutions and administering selected anesthetics as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate care regimens for assigned patients, managing patient care based on pre-anesthesia evaluations.
  • Mix solutions to required concentrations and participate in patient safety-oriented interfaces with post-anesthesia care unit personnel.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of procedures performed and patient conditions, charting procedures done outside of the OR.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from an accredited school of anesthesia.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) required at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in teams, effective communication and listening skills, and understanding of regulatory requirements and legal consequences of anesthesia care.
  • Prove ability to exercise professional prerogatives based on sound clinical judgment and adhere to precautionary and preventive measures in giving patient care.
