Insight Global is seeking a seasoned and proactive senior leader to spearhead growth in Northern California as the Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) Service Line Lead for a prominent engineering firm.

This position entails guiding a successful team with a robust project backlog and supporting essential initiatives in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of 70-80 professionals in the Northern California area, primarily field personnel, project managers, and administrative support.
  • Manage a diverse group of professional and non-professional engineers with over 30 years of collective experience, supervising a wide range of projects, including transportation, water management, refineries, and commercial developments.
  • Ensure effective pursuit and execution of projects, maintain communication with team members at all levels, and provide mentorship to enhance team dynamics.
  • Implement a local Construction Services business strategy with an emphasis on quality, risk management, and safety culture.
  • Deliver consistent, professional services aligned with quality standards, risk management, profitability, client satisfaction, safety, and timely project completion.
  • Comprehend and apply CoMET and construction services business drivers and project management methodologies.
  • Cultivate and sustain existing local client relationships while enhancing the firm's visibility in Northern California.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development, technical advancement, and coaching for CoMET personnel.
  • Prepare proposals, estimate materials testing fees, engage with clients and municipalities, and ensure thorough testing and inspection oversight.
  • Supervise all phases of project delivery, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, governmental, and institutional projects.

Additional Information:

  • Be a pivotal force in establishing teams across three distinct groups supporting projects from Northern Sacramento to Southern California, encompassing horizontal, vertical, water, power, transportation, and federal markets.
  • Play a vital role in business development and project execution, backed by a strong business development team and project controls support.

Specifics:

  • Accountable for achieving $22 million in revenue this fiscal year and fostering strong client relationships for sustainable organic growth.
This is a significant leadership position that demands extensive expertise in construction services, project management, and team leadership.

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred (equivalent industry experience is acceptable).

  • Professional registration is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction services with a focus on Construction Materials and Testing services.
  • Project management experience with knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in California.
  • At least 10 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Previous experience in supervising or managing materials and soils laboratories.
  • Proven project management experience with direct client interaction.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead project teams and mentor staff.
  • Familiarity with field testing and laboratory testing procedures.
