As an Educational Support Specialist, your role will involve delivering tailored supervision and instruction to designated students while providing essential support to the core classroom staff. You will collaborate with students to implement their Individualized Education Programs (IEP), utilizing both group and individual instructional methods in various settings.

? Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting classroom educators in cultivating an environment where students feel secure, valued, and held to high standards of learning.
  • Instructing and overseeing students during lessons to ensure adherence to instructional fidelity.
  • Employing instructional techniques to facilitate student learning and assist them in meeting course completion requirements.
  • Monitoring and encouraging the progress of individual students in line with specific timelines, and communicating with the classroom teacher regarding overall progress or necessary interventions.
  • Maintaining precise and comprehensive records of students' progress, including course completion status, ensuring students have the appropriate syllabus for their assigned courses.
  • Managing student behavior in the classroom by upholding the organizational philosophy and policies, and applying suitable disciplinary measures when required; collaborating with classroom educators to ensure consistency.
  • Providing support and guidance to students facing academic challenges and offering encouragement.
  • Participating in school meetings, student/parent conferences, and individual student advisory sessions as needed.
  • Communicating essential information to students, team members, supervisors, and parents regarding students' needs and academic progress in partnership with the classroom teacher and principal.
  • Engaging in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure that the site meets or exceeds performance standards.
  • Participating in all school and district professional development events.
  • Responding constructively to both formal and informal feedback.
  • Collaborating with other staff members for the benefit of the school community.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
? Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of a basic skills assessment.
  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant field of study is preferred.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, educational aide, or teaching assistant credential.
  • Extensive experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated motivational skills and adaptability to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Ability to think and act swiftly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Proficient in relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
