Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Instructional Aide to join our team at Ombudsman Educational Services. As an Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in providing individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, as well as additional support to the core classroom staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment that fosters high expectations for student learning.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons to ensure fidelity of instruction and support student learning.
  • Utilize instructional strategies to assist students in meeting course completion requirements and progress towards individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Encourage and monitor student progress, communicating with classroom teachers to ensure consistency and provide interventions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress, including course completion and syllabus information.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom, upholding the ChanceLight philosophy and policies, and applying disciplinary measures as necessary.
  • Support students with academic issues, provide encouragement, and participate in school meetings and student/parent meetings as required.
  • Communicate student needs and progress to team members, supervisors, and parents in collaboration with classroom teachers and principal.
  • Participate in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure site performance plans are met.
  • Participate in all school and district professional development days and respond constructively to feedback.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test passage.
  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant field of study preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, educational aide, or teaching assistant credential.
  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities, preferably in an education or classroom setting.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in relevant technology, including computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
