Position Overview

The Ranching Heritage Association is in search of a dynamic and strategic Chief Development Officer to spearhead fundraising initiatives for the National Ranching Heritage Center (NRHC). This pivotal role will lead a significant capital campaign aimed at raising $40 million for the establishment and operation of the Red Steagall Institute for Traditional Western Arts, a premier facility dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Western art and culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all major gift fundraising activities, focusing on securing substantial contributions to support the NRHC and the capital campaign for the Red Steagall Institute.
  • Work collaboratively with the NRHC team and external partners to devise and implement effective fundraising strategies that align with campaign objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-level donors, ensuring their continued engagement and support for the NRHC's mission.
  • Develop comprehensive fundraising plans, including the identification and solicitation of prospective major donors.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of donor engagement events and activities to recognize and appreciate major gift contributors.
  • Assist the NRHC team in creating persuasive fundraising materials that effectively convey the vision and significance of the Red Steagall Institute.
  • Regularly monitor and report on fundraising progress to key stakeholders, including the Executive Director and the Ranching Heritage Association Board.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with the values of the NRHC and the Ranching Heritage Association.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Major and Principal Gifts Fundraising, with a successful track record of securing significant contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Expertise in developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives.
  • Exceptional skills in relationship building and donor engagement.
  • Strong understanding of philanthropic trends and practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience in donor research and analytics.
  • Prior involvement in capital campaigns or large-scale fundraising efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Commitment to ethical fundraising practices.
  • Advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field, or relevant fundraising certification is preferred.
