Maintenance Operations Manager

The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, ensuring that all systems are operating efficiently and safely. This individual will be responsible for managing a team and conducting thorough analysis to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, they will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary utilities are functioning correctly and possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a preventive service schedule for all machine components, adhering to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Perform regular inspections of egg graders and packaging machinery, documenting areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and correct errors/faults efficiently to minimize machine downtime.
  • Manage an organized parts inventory system and create order forms when stock is low.
  • Regularly inspect and adjust timing and performance of all grader and equipment assemblies.
  • Assist with oversight on new equipment installations.
  • Monitor quality standards and functionality of services and machines regularly.
  • Escalate any problems early and schedule repairs to minimize loss to business.
  • Conduct regular assessments and trainings to ensure employee safety.
  • Analyze processes to ensure efficient functioning and make adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to ensure a cohesive team and floor environment.
  • Verify carton and box dating, ensuring labels/printouts have correct information.
  • Be capable of running the grader in the absence of the Processing Manager or Assistant Processing Manager.
  • Ensure egg processing equipment is sanitized according to standard operating procedures.
  • Alert the Complex Manager and/or Regional Manager of urgent or emergency situations.
  • Familiarize self with and comply with Biosecurity Program Policies, Safety Program, and Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP) policies.
  • Bring all necessary tools to work, as listed on the attached tool sheet.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary mechanical or technical training preferred.
  • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions.
  • Experience with egg grader operational functions, including machine setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Literacy with basic computer functions and applications.
  • Dependable and available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Available to answer emergency calls when off-site.
  • Ability to quickly address critical situations in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Possess good decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and reach areas only accessible by ladder.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas, each varying in temperature and atmosphere.
  • Willingness and ability to work past scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Maintain professionalism with coworkers.
