Data Center Administrator III

Manage the Data Center and related mechanical devices, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Design and implement hardware deployments and cabling, documenting network and data center processes. Collaborate with junior team members to enhance their skills and effectiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Network Maintenance: Ensure day-to-day operations of the Data Center, including maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Data Center Design and Architecture: Assist in designing and architecting the Data Center, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Documentation and SOP: Develop and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for Data Center operations.
  • Improvement and Architecture: Identify opportunities for improvement and propose architecture changes to enhance Data Center performance.
  • Installation and Removal: Install and remove network and systems equipment, ensuring proper cabling and configuration.
  • Facilities Monitoring: Monitor Data Center facilities for power, cooling, and capacity needs.
  • Test and Turn-up: Test and turn up circuits, including data, voice, and specialty circuits.
  • System Administration: Perform basic system administration tasks under direction from Network and Systems Administrators.
  • Emergency Support: Provide emergency support on a 24-hour basis, as required.
  • Troubleshooting and Verification: Troubleshoot and verify existing network equipment and systems infrastructure.
  • Process Refinement: Provide feedback on and refine data center operational processes.
  • Specifications and Evaluation: Establish specifications by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.
  • Performance and Issues: Evaluate performance and issues, including availability and utilization, and plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
  • Maintenance and Performance Tuning: Maintain Data Center performance by performing monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning, troubleshooting problems, and escalating issues to vendors or other staff.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance for computer problems, read and understand technical manuals, and work for extended periods at a keyboard/terminal.
  • Relationships and Communication: Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers, work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and value open, honest communication.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must live within 45 miles of the posted office location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCNA Data Center
  • Knowledge of Datacenter HVAC, CRAC, cooling technologies, Datacenter power, UPS, generator operations, Datacenter fire suppression systems, General knowledge of datacenter design and construction, LAN/WAN, Structured Cabling, Ethernet and Fiber Cabling, Telecommunications Systems, Emerging Technology Trends, Datacenter Best Practice and Industry Standard Methodology
