This entry-level management position focuses on supporting the day-to-day activities of Rooms Operations, encompassing Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff, AYS, and Concierge/Guest Services. The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in working with employees to execute guest arrival and departure procedures and maintain the property's cleanliness standards.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with 3 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related field. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, accompanied by 1 year of experience in the aforementioned fields, is also acceptable.

Core Work Activities
  • Supports the management of Rooms Operations activities, including opening and closing Front Desk shifts, ensuring completion of assigned shift checklists, and performing other duties as required.
  • Reviews critical information contained in room operations reports and understands the functions of Recreation, Laundry, Housekeeping, Bell Staff, AYS, Front Desk, and Concierge/Guest Services operations.
  • Operates department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions, ensuring employees have the proper supplies and uniforms.
  • Understands night audit procedures and can comprehend and utilize reports as needed.
  • Complies with loss prevention policies and procedures and communicates performance expectations to employees in accordance with job descriptions.
  • Handles employee questions and concerns, effectively schedules employees to business demands, and tracks employee time and attendance.
Contributing to Budget Management
  • Supervises same-day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy.
  • Verifies accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue opportunities and uses budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports to assist in Room Operations management.
  • Participates in managing departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals and understands the impact of Room Operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives.
Providing for and Managing the Guest Experience
  • Assists in investigating employee and guest accidents and uses a guest information tracking system to ensure a successful repeat guest recognition program.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations, interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, and effectively responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Assists in reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.
