Description

This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to relevant guidelines, policies, and regulations, including the Fair Labor Standards Act. With limited oversight, you will oversee, coordinate, and manage programs, activities, and personnel at a community facility, reporting directly to the Recreation Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff by assigning tasks, reviewing performance, and maintaining operational standards.
  • Ensure safe conditions for all community center facilities, playgrounds, and sports equipment, enforcing safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and recreation management software.
  • Design, implement, and sustain recreational programs tailored to community needs.
  • Handle financial transactions for all fee-based programs.
  • Assist in the transportation of program participants as necessary.
  • Organize and promote athletic events, including intramural leagues and sports camps.
  • Support the planning and delivery of training sessions and workshops for staff.
  • Prepare schedules for tournaments and manage athletic field permits.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of facilities and sports equipment.
  • Oversee the upkeep and preparation of athletic fields.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of sports and recreational supplies.
  • Complete and track maintenance requests as needed.
  • Coordinate facility rentals for various events.
  • Monitor and manage contractual programs.
  • Represent the department in city boards and committees as required.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and workshops for professional development.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor financial expenditures.
  • Enhance community engagement through promotional materials and outreach efforts.
  • Compile and submit various reports and documentation as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service, integrity, and a commitment to operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Physical Education, Public Administration, or a related field, or a minimum of four years of relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Preferred certifications include FRPA or NPRA, with active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of The Children Trust program is advantageous.
  • First Aid and CPR certification for adults and children is required.
