Overview:

The Sleep Study Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of sleep disorders as directed by medical professionals. This role involves the operation of specialized diagnostic equipment used in the evaluation and treatment of sleep-related conditions. The specialist may also be tasked with calibrating necessary apparatus and making appropriate adjustments to ensure optimal testing conditions. Collaboration with physicians is essential to determine the parameters and methodologies for testing. The specialist will analyze and score sleep/wake cycles, ensuring meticulous documentation of all procedures performed. This position may involve overseeing complex and challenging assessments and adhering to the standards set forth by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). Additionally, the specialist may provide guidance to junior Polysomnographic Technicians.

Qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions quickly and accurately.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the field of Polysomnography is required, with a preference for experience in pediatric sleep studies.
- Must possess a valid registry in good standing from one of the recognized credentialing bodies:
- The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT)
- The American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST)
- The National Board of Respiratory Care (SDS)
