Job Title: Court Records System Clerk I, Sheriff

Job Summary:

The County of Los Angeles, CA is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Court Records System Clerk I, Sheriff to join our team. As a key member of our Court Services Division, you will be responsible for performing a variety of specialized clerical and data entry functions, including processing legal documents, searching for technical data, and checking documents for completeness and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Types and processes court orders, minute orders, petitions, and other legal documents.
  • Searches for and abstracts technical data and explanations of laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Checks non-routine applications, collects variable fees, and refers unusual inquiries to the immediate supervisor.
  • Checks documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal and other requirements.
  • Acts as a receptionist or counter-clerk, answering routine questions and clarifying information for the public.
  • Opens, sorts, initials, time stamps, and routes incoming mail.
  • Operates office machines and equipment, including computers, to perform typing and other duties.
  • Searches records and files for data, using judgment and discrimination to select or abstract materials.
  • Inputs and retrieves information from a database.

Requirements:

  • Two years of specialized office clerical experience in County service at the level of County of Los Angeles class of Intermediate Clerk or Intermediate Typist Clerk.
  • Ability to type at the rate of 30 net words per minute.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The incumbent must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
