Position: Warehouse Material Handler
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $22.50/hr
Shift: 3pm - 12am

We are in search of a proficient and committed Warehouse Material Handler to enhance our operations at Sterling Engineering Inc. This role is pivotal in managing the handling of finished products, packaging, and raw materials, alongside the secure operation of a yard truck. The responsibilities include transporting trailers within the yard and to dock doors, ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse processes.

This position demands a proactive individual capable of making swift decisions, managing workloads effectively, and collaborating with team members. The ideal candidate should be a quick learner, thrive in a dynamic environment, and prioritize safety in all operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine, date, document, and label all incoming shipments.
  • Store incoming materials in designated locations.
  • Load completed orders onto outgoing trucks.
  • Pick orders based on current workload requirements.
  • Assist with inventory counts as necessary.
  • Operate various machinery, including floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and stand-up forklifts.
  • Expertly manage a yard hostler.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Conduct yard inspections and position trailers in the tank yard.
  • Perform routine checks on refrigerated trailers both in the yard and at dock doors.
  • Notify management of any refrigerated trailers exceeding 36 degrees for over 30 minutes.
  • Report any issues with the yard truck immediately upon discovery.
  • Engage in various projects or additional duties as assigned.
  • Alert management to any food safety and quality concerns.
  • Comply with all company policies, plant regulations, and safety standards, including those set by FDA, OSHA, and EPA.
  • Follow all safety guidelines during equipment operation.
  • Execute other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess training and certification to operate a Yard Spotter and forklift.
  • CDL is mandatory.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in forklift operation is essential.
  • Ability to walk, stand, twist, bend, lift, and navigate stairs.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature conditions from 33 to 90 degrees.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by operational needs.
  • Prior experience as a Yard Jockey is necessary.
