About the Role
We're seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Intellectual Property Specialist to join our team at Coda Search│Staffing. As an IP Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on, practical legal experience working with our innovative firm. You'll be responsible for handling a variety of intellectual property issues, including trademark and patent prosecution and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze client dockets to identify upcoming deadlines and prepare correspondence to clients regarding these deadlines.
- Prepare and submit electronic filings with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).
- Communicate with foreign law firms to manage trademark and patent filings in foreign countries.
- Assist in trademark clearance searches, including conducting searches in the USPTO and Saegis databases.
- Prepare electronic forms for patent filings in the USPTO, including provisional and utility patent applications.
- Maintain and organize electronic patent and trademark files.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of intellectual property experience, including using an IP practice management system in a law firm or IP corporate legal department setting.
- Experience with monitoring patent and trademark dockets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word and Excel) and billing software(s).
