Position Overview: Visa is in search of a proactive and business-oriented attorney to enhance its expanding Global Risk & Regulatory Affairs division. This role will report to a Senior Managing Counsel within the Global Risk sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Risk and other oversight functions to safeguard Visa and foster trust within the broader payments ecosystem.
  • Assist in the formulation, evaluation, and execution of essential risk policies and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance among Visa network participants with Visa Rules and associated policies.
  • Support the Regulatory & Risk Governance team during regulatory interactions.
  • Contribute to the Enterprise Risk Management team, including assistance with quarterly management and board meetings.
  • Provide legal guidance for supervisory interactions and coordinated responses to crisis situations.
  • Monitor and report significant regulatory trends to key stakeholders within the company.
  • Review and approve legal content and presentations produced by business teams.
  • Manage multiple priorities while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with Visa's regional and local legal and risk teams globally to address regional and local challenges, ensuring consistent approaches across Visa worldwide.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • A valid license to practice law in the state of employment or the ability to obtain state registration as in-house counsel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 or more years of pertinent experience with an advanced degree.
  • Strong academic background, including a J.D. degree (or equivalent), with admission to practice law in the United States.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, capable of working independently and collaboratively with business clients at all levels.
  • Proactive problem solver with a calm demeanor under pressure and a positive work ethic.
  • Experience providing legal support for complex business initiatives in large-scale environments, both domestically and internationally.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify complex legal matters to stakeholders with varying levels of legal understanding.
  • Prior experience in fintech, payments, or financial services is advantageous.

Additional Information:

Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.

Travel Requirements: This role may require travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be conducted in an office environment, necessitating the ability to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and via telephone, and operate standard office equipment such as computers and telephones.

Compensation: The estimated salary range for this position is between 165,400 and 215,000 USD annually, which may include potential sales incentive payments. Salary may vary based on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonuses and equity.
