The Legal team at OKX provides comprehensive legal advice and guidance to the company across all areas and geographic locations. As a key member of the team, the Deputy General Counsel, Global Licensing and Expansion will play a crucial role in supporting business growth and development by working closely with various teams within the company to achieve their goals.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join OKX's fast-paced and dynamic Legal team as a Deputy General Counsel, Global Licensing and Expansion. The successful candidate will report directly to OKX's Head of Global Licensing and will be responsible for leading the licensing process in specific jurisdictions and working with the Global Licensing Team to obtain key licenses.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the licensing process in specific jurisdictions and work with the Global Licensing Team to obtain key licenses.
  2. Manage external counsel and conduct legal research into global laws and regulations applicable to the crypto industry with the assistance of outside counsel.
  3. Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of the business's regional strategy and draft and revise application materials in collaboration with the Global Licensing Team and other business teams.
  4. Meet and communicate with regulators and other governmental bodies related to the company's licensing efforts and collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals.
  5. Assist with civil or regulatory litigation matters and supervise outside counsel as needed and manage additional legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.
Requirements
  1. Active membership with a US state bar (CA or NY preferred), or equivalent.
  2. 12+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services-related industry or other firmly-regulated space.
  3. Enthusiastic about blockchain technology and have an understanding of the relevant legal/regulatory landscape.
  4. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment.
  5. Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams and navigate through legal ambiguity.
  6. Self-starter, quick learner who is highly driven, proactive, responsive, and precise.
  7. Project management experience with superior organizational skills.
