Role Summary:
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of carrier operations along with robust technical skills in TMS systems or ERP administration. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying essential TMS features, assessing vendor options, and spearheading the effective implementation of TMS functionalities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to outline critical technology requirements for carrier operations, including dispatch, pickup, dock management, yard management, line haul, and delivery processes.
- Identify and document vital TMS business requirements aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction.
- Establish thorough evaluation criteria for analyzing commercially available TMS solutions against specified business needs.
- Lead the vendor selection process, encompassing RFP development, vendor demonstrations, and technical capability assessments.
- Oversee the TMS implementation lifecycle, which includes data migration, system configuration, user training, and go-live activities.
- Develop and execute detailed testing plans to ensure system functionality and data accuracy.
- Provide ongoing technical support for TMS development and operations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (dispatch, operations, IT) to guarantee successful system adoption and continuous optimization.
- Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and deliver regular updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation and logistics sector, with a proven history in carrier operations.
- Extensive technical experience in implementing, configuring, and managing carrier-based TMS solutions.
- Deep understanding of carrier operational processes, including dispatch, pickup, dock management, yard management, line haul, and delivery functions.
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with best practices.
- Proven ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver intricate IT projects on schedule and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in TMS selection and implementation specific to carrier operations.
- Experience integrating TMS with third-party solutions.
- Familiarity with transportation and logistics software solutions.
- Working knowledge of Agile project management methodologies.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range:
Between $80 - $95 per hour
