A Lead Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation, upkeep, and repair of various systems and equipment within a facility. This position involves conducting regular inspections, diagnosing problems, and executing necessary repairs to guarantee that the facility and its equipment function efficiently and safely. Furthermore, the specialist will support the installation of new machinery, liaise with external service providers, and manage the inventory of supplies and tools essential for maintenance activities. Strong technical acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to work autonomously are vital for success in this role. This position does not permit sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities

Familiarize oneself with Powell's equipment and facility Diagnose mechanical problems in areas such as machine controls, pump systems, and motor systems utilizing diagnostic tools. Address electrical issues in voltage control circuits and systems through fundamental circuit design knowledge and testing equipment. Enhance and sustain the preventative maintenance program Respond to in-house service requests promptly Operate heavy machinery including skyjacks, forklifts, boom lifts, threading machines, and saws Conduct basic welding, fabrication, drywall, painting, plumbing, conduit, and HVAC repairs Oversee shop waste management—monitor and dispatch shop waste as necessary Test the functionality of security and fire systems Maintain the condition of parking lots and walkways Comprehend and apply ladder logic Comply with all company policies and OSHA regulations.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Diploma 2-4 years of experience in a facilities maintenance environment

Skills, Abilities & Additional Requirements

Proficient in using shop equipment such as sanders, drill presses, forklifts, and scissor lifts Capable of performing new electrical installations for industrial equipment and repairing existing electrical systems in an industrial context Committed to safety by adhering to policies and procedures in an industrial setting Strong communication skills are essential; must possess a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting

Working Environment

The role is situated in a temperature-controlled warehouse and manufacturing facility, with outdoor tasks required, exposing the individual to varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

Maintaining balance and agility to prevent falls while walking, standing, crouching, or using stairs Bending at the waist, knees, and extending arms and hands in various directions repetitively Standing and walking for extended periods, potentially throughout an entire shift Ability to lift heavy materials, up to 50 lbs, repeatedly during a workday Engaging in typing, pressing, or applying force to objects with fingers and palms
