Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the initiation of new field research projects and conduct short-term field surveys.
  • Collect and analyze field data related to plant and animal populations.
  • Collaborate with a team of natural resource experts to fulfill project objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation and documentation of reports, utilizing scientific knowledge of regional flora and fauna to interpret findings from field and desktop studies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all activities performed.
  • Regularly update the Project Manager on progress and documentation of field operations.
  • Complete daily progress reports and participate in coordination calls as necessary. Organize field data sheets for all completed work.
  • Utilize tools such as compasses, GPS devices, binoculars, and digital cameras, while ensuring proper maintenance of equipment. Training will be provided for all survey activities and job-related tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, botany, wildlife management, environmental science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with the flora and fauna of the intermountain west.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment in unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work efficiently and safely in various conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel to remote field locations as needed, including potential overnight camping.
  • Ability to work independently in diverse weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Capability to walk or hike for extended periods (up to 10 hours/day) across varied and rugged terrain.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment and post-employment drug and alcohol screenings.
