Clean Harbors is currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to become a vital member of our safety-focused team. This position involves active fieldwork and is responsible for executing tasks related to hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and the management of hazardous materials. A valid Driver's License is mandatory. The work schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, with an average start time between 6-7 am, and generally consists of 8-10+ hour days, with overtime applicable after 40 hours. Some overnight travel may be required, with accommodations and per diem provided. On-call duty is required every other week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prioritize Health and Safety by adhering to policies and procedures, always acting safely.
  • Engage in physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Operate light and heavy machinery, utilize various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration-producing equipment.
  • Properly wear and utilize a range of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective gear for skin, face, hands, and feet.
  • Work in diverse temperature conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and in all weather scenarios.
  • Handle environments with potential exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous or toxic.
  • Manage tasks in potentially high noise levels and confined spaces, including lifting in low-clearance areas.
  • Work at heights, including the use of ladders and scaffolding.
  • Assist in field sampling and calibration of equipment.
  • Climb ladders and safely enter and exit vehicles and containers.
  • Work extended hours when necessary.
  • Participate in compliance and safety meetings.
  • Inspect containers for integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as required.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Be available for emergency response on a rotating on-call basis.
  • Engage in site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous materials handling.

Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as outlined in the responsibilities.
  • This role includes emergency response; agreeing to be on-call is a condition of employment, with potential weekend and holiday work required.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job.
  • Successful completion of a background check, drug test, and physical examination is required.
  • Compliance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard is necessary for positions requiring respirators.
