Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing and specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work flow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area
  • Serve as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in absence of supervisor or Lead MT

Specimen Handling & Processing:

  • Follow regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens
  • Follow proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens

Communication:

  • Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers

Customer Service:

  • Use AIDET as applicable
  • Attend CARES training
  • When necessary, assure proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers
  • Answer telephone in an polite and efficient manner

Education:

  • Assist with training of students and new employees
  • Participate in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or related field; required
  • ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required within 12 months after incumbent's graduation form an accredited Medical Technology Program
  • Valid Mississippi Driver's License and acceptable driving record/history; preferred
  • Proficient skills with LIS; required
  • Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
