Job Summary

As a Diesel Maintenance Supervisor at RATP Dev USA, you will be responsible for directing the activities of departmental employees in the implementation of programs and policies. You will review progress and activity reports, assess the effectiveness of operations, and determine the need for improvement. Additionally, you will select and assign staff, ensuring equal opportunity in hiring, promotion, and other employment practices. You will also identify staff development needs and ensure that training is obtained, as well as maintain proper labor relations and conditions of employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the activities of departmental employees in the implementation of programs and policies
• Review progress and activity reports, assess the effectiveness of operations, and determine the need for improvement
• Select and assign staff, ensuring equal opportunity in hiring, promotion, and other employment practices
• Identify staff development needs and ensure that training is obtained
• Maintain proper labor relations and conditions of employment
• Assist mechanics with solving complex or unusual maintenance issues
• Provide work assignments, advice, and guidance to subordinates, and observe and evaluate their job performance
• Effectively communicate with others, both verbally and in writing
• Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of reports and records of personal, equipment, materials, supplies, work performed, time spent, and costs

Requirements

Knowledge: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in an automotive technology related field or graduation from an accredited automotive institute is strongly preferred. Additional related work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in managing a maintenance department or service area is required.

Skills: Must have well-refined verbal and written communications skills. Organization skills and self-directed work ethic are essential. Must be a strong communicator with effective listening skills. Able to prepare and present clear, concise, and accurate reports to members of management. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs is required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Vision, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity are required. A valid North Carolina CDL driver's license is necessary. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general information concerning organizational needs and operations. Other normal office-related physical demands may be necessary.

Mental Demands: Must have the ability to listen, reason, think, concentrate, and interact with others. The ability to exercise self-control and work under stressful conditions is necessary, particularly in employee relations situations.
