Reports To: School Administrator

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, retired military officer or non-commissioned officer at a senior level.
  • Certification as a JROTC instructor from the relevant military branch.
  • Proficient in planning, instructing, and assessing educational programs in JROTC subjects while offering suitable educational opportunities along with co-curricular and extracurricular activities for students.
  • Ability to sustain an effective JROTC program.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and team-building abilities are essential.
Additional Compensation:
  • $3,000 stipend
  • $4,200 retention incentive
Physical/Emotional Requirements:

The incumbent may need to utilize the following skills and abilities throughout the workday: verbal communication, auditory processing, visual acuity, reading comprehension, writing proficiency, computer literacy, mobility, emotional stability, capacity to manage multiple challenges simultaneously, endurance for extended hours, and resilience in high-pressure situations.

Performance Responsibilities: The individual will engage in curriculum design, development of formative assessments, professional growth initiatives, and comprehensive program delivery planning. Responsibilities include:
  • Curriculum development
  • Assisting in the selection and approval of educational materials, resources, and equipment
  • Student instruction
  • Maintaining precise records
  • Supporting curriculum updates as necessary
  • Overseeing student behavior in communal areas
  • Effectively communicating with school administrators, parents, and staff
  • Assisting with school-related events
  • Promoting the mission of Topeka Public Schools
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year will be determined by the governing educational board.

Evaluation:

Performance in this role will be assessed in accordance with the policies established by the Board regarding the evaluation of certified professional personnel.

Significant Associations:
