Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare bid proposals for various projects.
  • Train and mentor junior estimators in the electrical division on the bidding process and detailed take-offs.
  • Ensure material requirements are accurate and comply with specifications.
  • Address design challenges and inquiries by collaborating with relevant personnel to maintain project momentum during estimation.
  • Assist the General Manager in negotiating project bids and estimating overall project costs.
  • Support the General Manager in negotiating the procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Request and analyze bid results.
  • Verify material pricing.
  • Review project contracts to ensure alignment with bid specifications.
  • Participate in job kick-off and turnover meetings with project managers and foremen.
  • Evaluate project projections with the General Manager and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of projects to ensure quality and client satisfaction, including field assessments.
  • Attend job closeout and review meetings to analyze historical data.
  • Maintain a historical database for reference.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating and quantity take-offs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with trades to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Experience in developing details and metrics related to costing.
  • Proficient in creating order of magnitude pricing for change packages.
  • Capability to estimate costs for electrical scopes of work.
  • Familiarity with current market pricing and industry capabilities.
  • Ability to plan and schedule the implementation of cost and change packages.
  • Proficient in utilizing and managing cost packages within costing software systems.
  • Ability to confirm trade and market pricing.
  • Skilled in building relationships with trade partners, clients, and consultants.
  • Capable of engaging subcontractors on change issues while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including blueprints and specifications.
  • Experience with Assemble, BIM 360, or other Revit model engagement software is preferred.
