The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at MassMutual. As a key member of our MMSD Program and Delivery team, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, developing, and implementing moderate to complex business projects. Your expertise will be essential in recommending strategies, actions, and alternatives for business decisions related to the projects under your area of responsibility.

The Team

MMSD's strategy is to aggressively grow top line sales by expanding existing and establishing new partnerships with financial institutions and making significant investments in Technology, Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Product development. Our strategy will be driven by dedicated, diverse teams across the enterprise, where we will prioritize and embrace a dynamic, agile, inclusive, and entrepreneurial culture.

The Impact

As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality execution of projects, including budget, timelines, and resource allocation to achieve project objectives.
  • Leading project teams to develop and refine integrated plans and execute cross-functional implementation plans.
  • Ensuring that all project team members understand project goals and objectives, current project plans and schedules, critical path activities, and activities that may become critical path activities.
  • Providing a continuously updated and balanced appraisal of the project status, including risk, cost, and value to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for aligning functional plans with approved project plans and ensuring high-quality execution.
  • Ensuring alignment between project strategy and tactical execution.
  • Proactively identifying issues while resolving conflicts and communicating project-related issues to senior executive management.
  • Developing and partnering with teams on an overall communication strategy, as well as the field strategy and broad internal/external communications.
  • Leading broad scope projects with medium to long-term focus of varying duration, size, and complexity.
  • Navigating ambiguity to deliver results.
  • Managing budget, timeline, resources, and scope through prioritization throughout the course of all assigned projects.
  • Leading project teams during all phases of the development life cycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, design, build, pilot, implementation, and continuous service.
  • Being self-supportive in collaborating with peers to effectively deliver a robust solution for the business.
  • Driving lessons learned and knowledge retention for future use.
  • Demonstrating proven capability to be organized yet flexible and adaptable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of project management experience, including managing and driving the execution of complex, cross-functional, strategic-based project experience.
  • 15% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Project Management, or an analytical field such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 3rd party distribution/market experience.
  • Life/Annuity product experience.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Ability to operate in both agile and waterfall project environments.
  • Ability to understand and support overall project goals and resolve and remove obstacles to the project's completion.
  • An agile leader who is able to summarize complex situations, with the flexibility to adapt quickly and influence change within the organization.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and obtain buy-in at all levels.
